I came to Huffman Family Eye Care on December 3, 2019 and am leaving on January 23, 2020, a little over a year.
I was an optician apprentice - my responsibilities included providing patients with frame and lens options, trial framing, inventory of frames, frame board filling and arranging, learning the process of grinding lens, and adjustment of frames.
I’ve learned how to grind lens, adjust frames, all the various lens options that are available for the patient, how to assess their insurance, and the math formulas in order to further help patients and pass the ABO.
I wished I had known more about insurance (Yikes!)
Friendly, helpful, sometimes hectic
I enjoyed the camaraderie with not only my co-workers but the patients as well.
The multi-tasking process of going from one patient to the next without the chance to get the first one finished.
Not sure if it is possible but have been wondering if it’s possible to work with patients that want to order glasses online. Possibly help them with the process and/or have a maintenance program for their glasses for a fee.
I was very pleased with the education I received in order to be prepared for my ABO testing, both from Amanda and Angela and Teri. That process went above my expectations - very grateful! I was disappointed in the process of multi-tasking that I mentioned in #7 for various reasons.
Yes, HFEC has been a wonderful place to work and I will truly miss everyone! I will take with me some wonderful memories of a work environment that is both productive and pleasant.
Following my dream of online personal training and photography.
